Flooring Trends for a Warm Winter at Home

As the winter season approaches, Carpets on the Move are all about creating a warm haven in your home. In this month’s blog, we take a look at the trends that will not only make the rooms in your house look more inviting and warmer, but will also make your home feel warmer overall.

This season’s colour trends

Burgundy is definitely the ‘in’ shade this year, working equally well in either small or large areas. If you’re feeling adventurous, you could even repaint the lounge or dining room wall to further elevate your floors.

Navy is also making a breakthrough this season, adding distinction to even the most casual of rooms. One particular benefit of navy is that it blends fabulously into any style, from beach house to French provincial, country to hippy. Best of all, navy works equally well with white, as well as light and dark timbers. To enhance any winter room, consider a modern or shag rug in deep blue, or some scatter cushions, offset with a burgundy throw.

Although it’s dipped in and out of favour over the years, grey is back on-trend this year, and is the perfect compliment for those richer, deeper winter hues. Grey also works well with white and can add a touch of elegance to any room. If you’re chasing a warming touch to your living space, consider yellow or orange. A clock, bowl, lamp, or even feature wall in these shades will add brightness to any room.

The return of retro

Believe it or not, a retro revolution is on the cards for carpets in 2024 and whether it’s driven by the desire to live more sustainably or honour those heady times of the 1970’s, we’re excited about it. Leave your plain coloured carpets behind as this throwback to nostalgia is far more inspiring.

Gone are the days of plain, neutral carpets confined to the bedroom. Patterned carpets are staging a comeback, expanding into living rooms and dining areas. Consider your floor the canvas of the room and opt for a striking, heavily patterned design. It’s a daring choice, but trust us, the impact is worth it!

Farmhouse flooring

The rustic and familiar modern farmhouse style we all love also continues to dominate in 2024, so it’s no surprise that floor trends will follow suit, as people’s homes are becoming places to recharge from their daily lives. One feature of farmhouse style is that it embraces imperfections and celebrates natural materials, such as wood and stone.

Vinyl Plank

Vinyl plank flooring is a versatile and affordable option for farmhouse style homes. It comes in a wide range of finishes, including wood, stone, and tile looks, allowing you to customise the look of your floors to suit your personal style. It is also waterproof and resistant to scratches. For more information on vinyl plank flooring options, get in touch with our team.
